The Architecture Studio of Val Glitsch, FAIA is dedicated to the practice of architecture as a creative endeavor, recognizing the power of good design to improve the quality of our lives and vibrancy of our experiences.

The clarity of the spatial relationships in Val’s work has been broadly recognized by the professional community. Her materials are selected and artfully detailed with attention to beauty, longevity, and a conscious responsibility to the environment. Stylistically, the work is modern in character.

Her work has focused primarily on residential projects, both custom and affordable housing, but her portfolio includes several commercial, religious and community projects. In 1995, in recognition of her contributions to the profession, she was elected to the American Institute of Architects (AIA) College of Fellows.

As lead designer and project architect, Val is the client’s primary contact, staying with the project from beginning to the end. After a successful thirty-year career in her native Texas, Val relocated to Oregon in 2015, where she now practices in Bend.

Val gives attention to detail in every aspect of the design. I especially love the way she designed the house for the lot and how the windows are placed to have the perfect daytime light and a moonlit light at night. I am still amazed how lovely the light is.

Val also designed my house around four beautiful live oak trees. She didn't want to cut anything down, so she designed a house that would fit inside the trees. The result is beautiful. The house seems surrounded by trees, making it feel as if the inside and outside are connected in a very natural and calming way. Her design is contemporary and yet warm at that same time.

I am always reminded by visitors that Val's design is unique and beautiful. Thank you, Val!

Val has been the architect for the remodeling projects on three of my homes. She has remodeled existing spaces and also designed a new addition for one of our homes. From small to large remodels, she has been great to work with.
